The Blog for GW Pens

A peek at what we make

Change is Coming

You may have noticed (or maybe you didn’t) that my blogs have been getting posted later and later. Since the vote at the CPSC Monday on some initial exemptions for the CPSIA, I’ve been waiting for the results.

They were just posted to the CPSC site about an hour ago, and are a great starting point:

Among the exclusions they brought up before (you can see these in my post ‘Possible CPSIA Exemptions), they are adding that untested items no longer fall under ‘hazardous substances’ ruling. There’s still more that needs to be done, however. So head on over to vote on the top 10 petitions there will be seen by President-elect Obama’s directly administration (sorry for the initial confusion there on my part).

Thanks so much for all this good information. I’m finding it to be so confusing with all that’s out there about the CPSIA. I only use 100% cotton fabric and 100% cotton thread to make my kids clothing so it seems I may end up being OK. Would you mind if I point others to your site and include a link in my Etsy announcement?

Hi Laurie- I don’t mind at all. Hopefully, this will help some others get answers they’re looking for.

Please visit my website at I have set up a petition to present to Congressman Lungren as well as other interested parties. In the 2.5 days the petition has been live I have received over 500 signatures! This is GREAT!

Please forward these links to everyone you know!
Also visit: and vote to get it presented as one of the top 10 issues presented to President Obama!

    Warmest Regards,
    Dawn Michelle

I see that Dawn Michelle posted a link to her site a couple of days ago but she is now rallying troops for a class action law suit and I thought you might like to look at it:
