Bump Day #3: Marjorie’s Cracked

Welcome to the third edition of Bump Day!

Bump Day is for a crafter from Etsy to offer up some advice and hopefully get some karma in the form of a little bump in recognition. If you have advice to offer and would like to be featured, please convo me via www.GrecoWoodcrafting.com

This week’s Top 5 Suggestions are from Marjorie’s Cracked. Marjorie’s Cracked features jewelry made from decorated plates, china, porcelain, and ceramic. The pieces she chooses to use are simply amazing- please take a few moments to look over her work!

And now, on to the tips!

5 Tips by Marjorie

1) HAVE FAITH IN YOUR TALENT

Believe in yourself and believe in your creativity and your talent. Because if you can’t believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you. Believe in the worth of what you do.

2) GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN!

Don’t hide your talent under a bushel. Go out there and tell the world. With the internet, the world is yours and there are so many ways to show the world just how talented you are. Get involved in arts/crafts forums, write a blog and join all the groups you can find. Talk about your work every chance you get.

3) BE TRUE TO YOURSELF

There are times when people will try to influence or change the course of your work. They may tell you that if you do it differently, it will sell better. Create what your heart tells you to create. Love what you’re creating and that love will shine through your work and will touch others.

4) DON’T SELL YOURSELF SHORT

Remember that people who are buying your creation are not only buying a product but also are buying your time and your ability to create. This goes back to the first point – believe in your worth and price accordingly. If you believe your product is worth a certain price, stick with that price and be confident that the price is right!

5) DON’T GIVE UP!

Most importantly, don’t give up. Winston Churchill said “Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm”. Be persistent; be determined. Just keep taking one step at a time and keep going!
